Caring for Children

The Caring for Children course is designed for anyone in contact with children who wants to gain valuable insights and practical advice about the care of children. It is presented in two parts; the first focuses on early childhood development; the second is concerned with understanding different ways of managing the behaviour of children. This comprehensive course covers early childhood theories and provides you with practical everyday examples that demonstrate how children develop and learn behaviour patterns.

This is a NZQA approved course. Upon completion of this course you will be awarded a Stotts Cengage Education Certificate in Caring for Children.

Key areas of learning:
• Early Childhood Development (focusing on first 5 years of life)
• Behaviour Management (strategies for typical misbehaviour)

Requirements

Course Number: 560
Prerequisites: Open entry. Exercises requiring access to children are optional. We recommend that you have English reading and writing to 5th Form Certificate or Year 10 equivalent level.
Assessments: 21 lessons / 21 assignments
Duration: This course must be completed within 24 months.
24 Months = 5 hours a week study
12 Months = 9 hours a week study
Level: Level 3
